A table PDF, not a glorified screenshot
The hard part of turning a sheet into a PDF is not generating it: it is keeping
the table readable when it runs to twenty pages. Here the column widths are
fitted to the content, the header repeats on every page, and pages are
numbered at the foot (3 / 12). Without that, by page seven you no longer
know what each column means.
Rows are striped in two alternating shades so your eye does not jump a line, and numbers are right-aligned, which is what lets you compare magnitudes at a glance.
The orientation chooses itself
Beyond six columns, landscape is nearly always the only way the table fits without breaking words. So in "Auto" mode the tool switches to landscape as soon as it sees seven columns or more, and keeps portrait for narrow tables.
You can force portrait or landscape if you would rather decide yourself.
Page size and font size
- Page size: A4, Letter or A3. A3 is the fallback when a wide table will not sit comfortably even in landscape.
- Font size: from 6 to 14 points. Smaller fits more columns per page at the cost of legibility; larger helps for reports read on paper.
You can also give it a title, shown large at the top; leave it blank and the sheet name is used.
The 25-column limit
Above 25 columns the tool refuses to generate the PDF. It is not a technical limit: no orientation, not A3, not the smallest font, makes a table that wide readable. It is more honest to tell you than to hand you an illegible PDF.
If your table is wider, the sensible move is to split it, drop columns the report does not need, or export to Excel and trim there before printing.
Frequently asked questions
Are cell colours and formatting preserved?
No. The PDF is laid out with a clean, uniform style — shaded header, striped rows — meant to be read, not to replicate the look of your sheet.
Can I convert a CSV or a legacy .xls?
Yes. It accepts .xlsx, .xls and .csv; the result is the same table PDF in
every case.
What about tables with many rows?
No problem: the table flows across as many pages as needed, repeating the header on each. Column widths are fitted from a sample of the first rows, so the PDF generates quickly even when the sheet is huge.
Can I make the table landscape even with few columns?
Yes. Change the orientation from "Auto" to "Landscape" and your choice is honored regardless of the column count.
What if I only need the first sheet?
The first sheet of the workbook is converted. If you need another, move it to the front before uploading the file.
